We’ve been building what we call our “Gravel Family” for the last 15 years. It’s a group of amazing, crazy, goofy individuals that are there to cheer and support everyone along with their individual goals. Whether you come in first or last, you’ll learn the Gravel Family truly is different than most sporting communities!

FAQ’s

What does “self-supported” mean?

Part of the challenge of the Land Ho is the event is self-supported. Runners are required to finish the event without any form of outside support that isn’t provided by the race.

Once a runner leaves the start line, they can not take any outside support. No team vehicles or families out on the course. Water and basic nutrition will be provided at aid stations and checkpoints, but any specific nutrition needs will need to be carried by the runner.

Courses will be marked!! However we do recommend runners have a form of navigation in case signs being altered or stolen. GPS files and cue cars will be provided through RideWithGPS and Garmin Connect

If you have specific nutritional needs you will be required to carry that yourself.

How often will there be aid stations?

Water/Hydration/Nutrition Aid Stations will be provided roughly every 8-10k on the front half and roughly every 5-7k on the second half. A fully stocked checkpoint will be just after the halfway point. We recommend having the ability to carry water either on your belt or your back.

Is there a time cut-off?

Time cut off will be 5 hours (17-minute mile pace). The Race will start at 6:30am. Race finish cut off will b 11am.

What is the Gravel Like?

Is it hilly?

YES! Nebraska is not flat!! (At least not around Lincoln, NE where the race is). There will be about 1,100 ft of elevation in the 16 miles. For most of the race you will be going either up or down the entire time. There is no single killer climb that will wreck you, but there is hill after hill after hill that will be along the entire course. Averaging 4-5% grade either up or down the entire course.
